This website was created from a copy of passcarphotos.info which was originally saved on April 26, 2018. The website was originally created and managed by J.M. LaBODA who passed away in early 2018. When his website disappeared this copy was erected to keep the massive amount of information he collected available to all. We are also working to recover his other two websites: interurbancarphotos.info and pcccarphotos.info

Due to many of the photographs linking to external websites, not all of the links will continue to work as time goes on. A full offline copy of this website can be downloaded here: passcarphotos.zip

PASSENGER CAR PHOTO INDEX - PACIFIC ELECTRIC II

PACIFIC ELECTRIC II

UPDATED WITH OVER 24 NEW LINKS ADDED.

On this page you will find listings for the Interurban Electric Rwy., L.A. Metrolpolitan Transit Authority, Northwestern Pacific and the Southern Pacific's East Bay Electric Lines, which became IER in 1938.  Many of the cars operated by the other S.P. lines became P.E. cars as the other lines ended electric service.  These lines are presented here on this page so as to make cross-referencing easy to do.

Included in the listings are cars that were acquired by the U.S. Maritime Commission from Southern Pacific/Interurban Elecrtic.  The cars of the U.S.M.C. were used to between Los Angeles and the Harbor, operating on portions of the Pacific Electric.  Sixty-one cars were acquired by the U.S.M.C., with some cars being used on and later acquired by, the P.E., while others were used on the Santa Fe and Union Pacific (as unpowered trailers) for military personel movements.  I am seeking additional images of both the cars that remained motorized as well as those that were used on non-electrified lines.  If you can help please email me using the link below.

Also listing Metropolitan Transit Authority are also included, who took over the operations of the Pacific Electric in 1951.  A number of P.E. cars were transferred to this operation with a couple of street cars and one "Blimp" being repainted.  Most cars continued to wear their P.E. livery with simply MTA heralds until being retired.  I am in need of additional information on car histories including which cars went to the M.T.A. and the renumbering of those cars, if you can help please email me.
